DIAMOND CENTER:

Antwerp

Antwerp, Belgium is home to the most renowned diamond cutters in the world, including Grunberger Diamonds.
Although diamond cutting has developed in other countries, Antwerp maintains its reputation as a city boasting the highest quality in melee, and remains at the forefront of innovation.


Samuel Grunberger

1930s

Our company’s founder, Samuel Grunberger, establishes the foundation of what will eventually become Grunberger Diamonds.

1940s

Samuel Grunberger establishes Grunberger Diamonds in Antwerp, Belgium.

1950s

Samuel Grunberger and his son, Marcel, expand the business, hiring more than 1,000 employees.

1958

Grunberger Diamonds attends the World Diamond Expo in Brussels, Belgium and is recognized as one of the largest diamond manufacturers in the world.

Marcel Grunberger

1960s

Under the guidance of Marcel Grunberger, the company becomes the largest producer of melee diamonds. Samuel and Marcel Grunberger receive national honors in Belgium for the company’s contribution to the Belgian diamond industry.

1980

Marcel Grunberger moves the cutting and quality control facility from Belgium to Thailand.

1992

Marcel Grunberger receives an award from the Belgian king for his contribution to the small- and medium-sized company sector.

1993

Marcel Grunberger establishes a larger manufacturing facility in Vietnam.


David Grunberger

1997

Marcel Grunberger’s son, David, establishes the New York office.

2004

Grunberger Diamonds receives the prestigious King Albert II Leopold Chevalier Award from Belgium.

2009

David Grunberger and his brother, Simon, establish the Hong Kong office.

Simon Grunberger

2013

Simon Grunberger establishes Grunberger Diamonds Japan in Osaka.

2016

To celebrate 150 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Belgium, the company presents a high-end Japanese lacquer box with Grunberger diamonds scattered through the design to the king and queen of Belgium. The one-of-a-kind box acts as a symbol of the countries’ relationship.

2017

Simon Grunberger opens a larger selling office in Tokyo.

2019

David Grunberger’s son Daniel, the fourth generation, joins the New York office.
